What is the main inspiration for your music?
I guess you could say I’m inspired by our human experience…the gritty stuff of loss, suffering, doubt, etc. Music becomes this place to express and honor that deeply-personal wisdom we each acquire through living out our lives and making mistakes.

Which of your tracks/videos should people check out prior to SXSW?
Any pre-show ritual/odd routine?
I usually freak the hell out, forget to shower and rush to soundcheck. Only to realize soundchecks are never (ever) on time and find myself flustered and kinda dirty. I try not to talk much and avoid booze at all costs. I used to have to drink to even step on a stage as a backup singer but since going solo I won’t drink before a show. I don’t feel in control of my performance and my jokes on stage get even worse.
Words/references/comparisons people use to describe your music that you HATE.
hm, come to think of it, I’ve yet to be offended by any comparison/reference made about my music. Usually people reference a mix of artists/genres…I get a lot of ”you sound like _____ mixed with _______.”
Most embarrassing/funny moment with your band?
Well, I’m a solo act..which essentially leaves even more room for embarrassment. Once during a show I bent down to adjust my pedal on the floor and upon coming back up nailed my head on the keyboard, which then flew off the stage (not me, the keyboard). Everyone screamed. Someone in the audience had to literally pick it up off the floor and hand my keyboard back to me (it was a small stage)…. And it was a really intimate show. Ooooof. Just keepin everyone on their toes, you know?
One thing you can’t travel without?
An Emergency poncho.
